We have scores of bustling and friendly towns and villages that are dotted across Northumberland.
To the south lies Hexham, which still holds the title as England's favourite market town. Follow the A69 along to Haltwhistle - a place that likes to call itself the Centre of Britain situated in the heart of Hadrian's Wall Country.
Head north and you'll find Morpeth - Northumberland's county town which has everything from quirky department stores to England's only Bagpipe Museum.
Go further north still and you'll find picturesque Alnwick which is dominated by its medieval castle and home to what is probably the best second hand bookshop in the world - Barter Books. Travelling inland you will soon discover Rothbury, a beautiful market town on the edge of Northumberland National Park. On the northern edge of Northumberland National Park lies Wooler a small, attractive stone-built town which is gateway to the Cheviot Hills.
In the far north of the county, close to the Scottish border, you will find Berwick-upon-Tweed, an eclectic Georgian market town with a huge range of things to do and enjoy. Follow the coast south towards the fishing town of Seahouses you will pass the Holy Island of Lindisfarne and Bamburgh Castle.
And alongside our great towns we've got quaint and picturesque villages like Otterburn, or Corbridge where you are assured of a warm welcome and some fantastic food and drink.
