This site could be lovely apart from a few things, We stayed on pitch 19 a so called Premier pitch with water and drainage. The pitch is accross grass which I've never in counted before, it rained quite abit so grass very wet and muddy.. We only had breathable groundsheets due to thinking we would be on a hard standing service pitch, the pitch isn't big enough for a caravan and awning full or porch.. The gravel is surrounded by bricks which is strange, and you will need extra long tent pegs (18 inches) due to depth of gravel.. We had to put our full awning on the grass and due to slight slope and bank behind us the water was running underneath our groundsheet so wet all the time. The site isn't cheap £200 for six nights with awning in low season ..£27 pound to have full awning... Staff where really friendly gave us carpet for awning. Northumberland is beautiful, beaches are dog friendly and go on for miles and miles.. Never tried bar or restaurant so can't comment.. Static site looks really nice. But because of the terrible pitches we won't be coming back to the Waren.. If you go to the Waren the service pitches are ok if you like driving across a bog to get to it without an awning, if you want bricks underfoot take an awning... Last night the Beverly hillbillies arrived with 50 kids in tow.. It's like a carpark in Glastonbury mud this morning... Pure bliss... People on site don't go out there way either keep themselves to themselves.. Not friendly at all..

Hardstanding !!!!

DEBBIE S,
Just returned from a 6 night stay at Waren caravan site and couldn't get home soon enough. Can i start with saying im not one for complaining and this is the first bad review ive left about a caravan site but i feel that people should be aware of the standards of the pitches. We arrived expecting some heavy rain so requested a hard-standing serviced pitch, cost £33 per day just under £200, quite expensive for off peak. What we got was an area of gravel not wide enough to put our average size tourer and awning on. The gravel area was surrounded by bricks apparently the boss thinks it looks "neat" but this meant if we put the awning half on gravel half on grass there would have been a bit of a step which could have caused injury so we had no alternative but to move the caravan to the edge of the bricks and put the awning on grass(might aswell just paid for a grass pitch)now this normally wouldnt have been a problem, however, due to the serviced pitches being at the back of the site, directly behind a bank of around 10 feet high and the pitch being on a bit of a slope....when it rained, and it did, the rain poured under the ground sheet and the awning and surrounding area became what i can only describe as a BOG. We took a breathable groundsheet (rules state groundsheets are lifted every day!!!) so that we wouldnt have to lift it. Every time we stood on it the mud squelched through the groundsheet meaning boots had to be worn at all times. No one can help the weather but im angry that we were charged a premium rate for a substandard pitch and that the reception staff didnt advise us against pitching there knowing what its like. (We paid on arrival before checking the pitch out) )The people in the touring office were sympathetic and i got the feeling this happens a lot due to the great British weather, and we weren't the only ones complaining about the serviced pitches. They kindly offered us carpet samples to put down in the awning. These were fine for a day and gave us something dry to walk on, but then after another night of heavy rain even these were also saturated with mud. Dont know what we would have done if there had been others with us wanting to use the bedroom annex to sleep in. Actually i do, packed up and come home...My opinion is the serviced, being the most expensive pitches are in the worst possible place on this site and the bricks might make it look neat but need removing, at least on one side. The adult only pitches seemed to be the best as they were on the flat but not serviced. The touring pitches are situated around a childrens play area with a good sized field with swings etc , the toilets/showers/dishwashing areas were fine, 20p to use hairdriers, laundrette £3.50 for machine £2.50 for driers is about average but the prices in the shop were ridiculous. You expect to pay more but they were unacceptable. Didnt try the restaurant as people we spoke to said it was expensive and poor, Nearest supermarket (co-op) is in Seahouses 6 miles away, if you want Asda ,Aldi, Morrisons you need to drive to Berwick upon tweed 25 minutes drive, I went on a Wednesday as lady in shop said it was market day...when i got there 3 stalls on the high street, apparently theres usually five but due to bad weather the other two hadn't turned up!!! Dog walk is along the bank which runs around most of the sight. Tried the bath one night but water was only warm so didnt bother again. Lovely beaches and car parking either free all day or a couple of pound, gluten free fish and chips from Neptunes Seahouses was lovely, fab meal in Black Swan Alnwick with seperate gluten free menu, hubby had fish and chips and said was delicious, dogs were welcomed and even got a treat. If it had been dry weather there would be no need to complain and as ive said you cant do anything about the rain, but the owners could quite simply move the bricks surrounding the gravel and make the hard standing wide enough (another 4 foot) to put an awning on and the problem would be solved, there is certainly enough space between pitches to do this. Also, staff in reception should advise people against putting an awning on these pitches in bad weather (you pay extra for awning) as they seemed fully aware of the problem. 2 vans by us took their awnings down after the first day but we couldn't as we have two dogs and had taken furniture with us. We would not return to this site but we did see other sites much nicer in the area so will stay on one of them next time.

Fantastic break

This is our 3rd year of staying on waren over the bank holiday weekend only this year we were fortunate enough to be able to stay for just over a week :) we love this site it's well kept & the facilities are very well maintained, we visited the club house on the sat of the bank holiday for the country music night but unfortunately the show had to end due to the fire alarm going off , but for the short time we got to stay in there we enjoyed it . The site is situated well for easy short drives to holy island , sea houses , & bamburgh . We were going into sea houses for a meal & asked at the touring office about taxis to which we were given a no: to ring & so we were able to get a taxi from ( Gordon ) lovely chap an the cost was £10 . The touring pitches are situ right round the kids football pitch but that is not an issue to us an NEVER have we had a football hit or come near our van , it's a great site we love it an can't wait to go back :D

Very disappointing

535warren, Banbury, United Kingdom
This is the fourth year we have been training Guide Dog puppies and during that time we have always been made welcome but sadly not by Meadowheads Waren Caravan Park. Dispite a sign on the resturant door saying Guide Dogs welcome this was far from the case. We chose a table out of the way and ordered a meal and no one said anything and Henry just sat on his rug chewing a chew stick. However as soon as our meal arrived an angry looking woman dressed as a chef but claiming to be the assistant part manager asked us to leave. We politely pointed out that the sign on the door said Guide Dogs welcome and although Henry was a trainee Guide Dog he was as much a guide dog as any other and the socialisation part of his training was very important. The manager said Henry was not a real Guide Dog as he was not providing assistance. We pointed out that without trainee Guide Dogs there would never be any trained Guide Dogs that provide such a valuable service. At this point I was sat looking at the untouched meal that the assistant manager had just cooked and I asked her what she wanted me to do, was she going to refund us and we leave or should I eat the meal she had just prepared for me. She thought for a while about the redicolous situation she had created and decided we should eat the meal, which we did and Henry sat quietly. Pity realy as the manager is a better cook than she is a manager a good meal ruined by poor customer service.

Good

Qoiuhgty,
A group of us visited over the bank holiday and had a lovely time. Stayed in the tent field , the staff were nice & helpful. Pleased with our location & the family showers were very good. The Restaurant brilliant, we all enjoyed our food here. The only disappointment was the pool, it was too cold for my children to swim in, they were shaking after only being in for 10 mins. Absolutely stunning area, I especially enjoyed the walks & views. Yes would come back.
