Bonfire night escape!🐾

Louise H, Preston, United Kingdom
After several years of trying to calm two petrified Collies on November 5th, we decided to try our luck and go rogue in the countryside to escape the ‘bombs’. We booked 3 nights at Border Forest, the penultimate night being bonfire night, although there was some firework noise from the farm next door on the Saturday evening, this only lasted 20 minutes or so, but bonfire night itself was as peaceful as we could have wished for. Aside from that, the park itself was lovely, we were in a camper and felt the cold as it was minus 1 but the shower block was very warm and the water even warmer☺️. The site is situated next to a huge pine forest so there are plenty of fabulous walks, both in the forest and by the river. I will definitely be returning, hopefully in spring and more probably in November 2018 to yet again escape the firework din. I would highly recommend site this for anyone especially dog owners. Oh, did I mention the beautiful scenery? I could go on but you need to see for yourself. 👍🏻🐾🏕

One of the best...

Cheviot-Ranter,
I love Northumberland. There are so many landscapes to enjoy. So much wildlife and heritage. Border Forest is a special place because it lets us stay right next to the the Kielder Forest. It is literally minutes away by foot. Here a myriad of intersecting possibilities of pathways and connected walks reveal waterfalls, history, and nature. Border Forest is also a gateway to the Scottish Borders. Head towards Jedburgh and you cross the border into Scotland at Carter Bar, at what must be one of the most impressive border crossings anywhere. We stayed at Little Owl. Very private, with its own little garden. Clean, modern and well equipped, the view from the front window, down onto the burn, had us enchanted within seconds. Enjoy the dark skies from the hot-tub if you get the chance. Best way to do some casual astronomy if you ask me! There are stargazing guides in the lodge as well as a planisphere and a pair of binoculars which, unusually for holiday accommodation, are actually of very reasonable quality. But this is a reflection on the lodge in general. Nothing has been skipped. The owners, Cathy and Simon, really do want you to have a great stay. Attention to detail was good and the hot-tub was immaculate, inspected regularly. So do what we did. Explore, relax, feed pigs, and realise you may need to come back for more of this..!

Border Forest Holiday Park replied: Oh, thank you so much for your lovely review we try very hard to make everyone's stay as special as possible and we really hope to see you again soon :)

Perfect opportunity for R and R

Kathryn M,
Stayed here for 4 nights with our dog, the walks were great with the forest right on the door step, nice and quiet it was perfect for chilling out especially with the hot tub! The lodge was clean, tidy and warm with everything that was needed for our break, only thing would suggest is some hand soap for the sinks. Also it’s a shame that there’s no opportunity to recycle. Because it’s so isolated, do need to take all the supplies needed or be prepared to go out in car. Would definitely recommend here for a short break when wanting to get away from it all for rest and relaxation!

Border Forest Holiday Park replied: Hello and thank you for your review we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay. We do agree with you about recyling up here but it's only glass everything is recyclable! :)

Lovely break

kittykate83, Cheadle, United Kingdom
We have just had a lovely four night stay in a Goshawk lodge with our dog. The lodge was well equipped and clean, the hot tub well situated for privacy and overlooking the stream. There is nothing near the lodges except peace and quiet and some lovely forest walks which our dog thoroughly enjoyed! It was a wonderfully relaxing break. Milly loved the piggies and had her nose licked by the donkey!

Border Forest Holiday Park replied: Ah hello and thanks for your review. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay and that Millie, especially had fun! :)

Beautiful, quiet and relaxing

chelseyparkin,
My friend and I stayed in a pod here with our 2 dogs. The pod was very clean and the location is beautiful we enjoyed walking and relaxing. Perfect get away. There is no pub on site and it is a good few mile drive to the nearest shop so take food/drink with you although there is a van that comes on the site with food! Brilliant would definitely return

Border Forest Holiday Park replied: Hello, thanks for your review. We are most definitely a long way away from shops here, lol and the foodie van comes on Saurdays only from Easter to the end of September so do make sure you have provisions! Hope to see you again :)
