A gem of a find

We visited Amble to see the puffins at Coquet island. Every B and B was full and we decided that since we had no place to stay we could not visit the area. Fortunately for us, Coquetside had just had a cancellation and we got lucky. As I write this I am seated on our double bed looking out of the large French window over our balcony onto the harbour a stones throw away and in the distance I can see Warkworth Castle. We are in the family room and it is very very nice. It is spacious and with comfortable easy chairs to relax in - in fact I bought some wine just so could sit on the balcony and watch the harbour bustle by. The owners are really friendly and the breakfast was superb- beautifully presented - which you eat in the airy dining room next to the garden. If you walk around the beach over he promenade and around some of the coves there are some lovely rock formations. So all in all there is a lot going for this place. We would definitely come again. This was a find.

I stayed with my teenage daughter (who usually moans about everything), she loved this B&B! Need I say anymore? Yes I do, the owners are lovely friendly people. We stayed in the beautifully decorated family room, very spacious and clean, beds were comfortable, the views were great, it was easy to just sit and realise an hour had slipped by watching the view. Breakfast was great too, no need for lunch at all! Thankyou Grace and Dave, we will be back :-)

Relaxing and refreshing break

There are plenty parking places outside the B&B so was able to park up no problem. On my arrival I was met with a very warm and friendly welcome from Grace and her husband Dave, even had my very large suitcase containing everything but the kitchen sink carried upstairs for me by Dave . The room I had was lovely clean and fresh and comfortable as were bathroom and shower facilities. Very quite and relaxing room with TV. Tea and coffee making facilities available in your room which were topped up daily. There are beautiful views from the guesthouse and lots of fantastic and interesting place to visit in the surrounding areas .. information leaflets on places to visit and where to eat were left in room which was very helpful . Breakfast was absolutely fantastic and definitely sets you up for the day .. very enjoyable stay .. will be recommending to all my friends

The perfect seaside escape

We’ve stayed in many of the B&Bs in and around Amble over the years but Coquetside is by far and away the best. Set right beside the fishing harbour, the view from the spacious family room on the first floor is stunning, with sweeping vistas over the beautiful Coquet estuary to Warkworth Castle beyond. Grab a beer, retire to the balcony and you can drink in the magnificent sunsets. Views aside, Coquetside is also extremely handy for Amble’s weekend markets; within seconds you can be out the door and swopping up those early-morning bargains. Owners and Grace and Dave couldn’t be more friendly and welcoming and their lovely big breakfasts will set you up for the day. With a flat-screen telly, wi-fi and comfy beds, Coquetside has all the ingredients for a very pleasurable stay. If you’re looking for a great base for exploring the stunning Northumberland coast, Amble comes highly recommended. Over the past few years the town has undergone something of a renaissance, and while the characterful High Street is much the same with its individual shops, these have now been joined by some superb new restaurants, a fantastic Italian-style ice cream parlour, a little ’village’ of wooden pods selling knick-knacks, food and local goods, and a row of candy-coloured beach huts by the beach. Give it a few years and it will become the next Southwold or Salcombe. You mark my words.

Fab break
