Excellent B & B in a rural location

Harry B, Rotherham, United Kingdom
We recently had three great nights at Callaly Cottage. Lynn is an excellent host who serves delicious breakfasts including a varied fresh fruit dish, home made preserves and superb cooked Callaly Full and Craster Kippers. Our room looking out over the horses, pheasants and chickens in the field at the front of the house was extremely comfortable with a king size bed and armchairs and a good en suite bathroom. After days exploring the Northumberland coast and visiting the NT properties, Cragside and Wallington Hall, we were able to have relaxing suppers in the large and comfortable lounge/dining room where there is a wide range of books and magazines of the local area. Because of its rural location there is no light pollution at Callaly so an added bonus was to be able to see the stars in all their glory. Callaly Cottage was a real find and we certainly hope to return to enjoy Lynn's hospitality again.

Immerse Yourself in the Real Feel Of Northumberland.

Andy R, Redhill, United Kingdom
For us when there is no noise from aircraft and no night light pollution we are usually well on the way to a higher level of being. Our stay here helped fulfil these requirements added to by the comfortable Room 1 with its bucolic view across the field housing the entertaining horses Dennis and Holly (I think) the tasty breakfasts and use of the breakfast room for bought in evening snacks. Lyn our ebullient host was full of advise and ideas for getting out and about. Wi-fi worked well. But be warned if no telly, no outside shoes inside and sharing a table at breakfast are not your cup of tea. Otherwise a good base for exploring.

A wonderful stay.

Elizabeth J, Harrogate, United Kingdom
We spent four nights in this wonderful b&b. The location was very good, a lovely rural retreat close to the towns of Alnwick and Rothbury. Our large comfortable room overlooked the garden and fields. Breakfasts were delicious and there was plenty of choice. I had a head and shoulder massage after breakfast on the first morning of our stay, it was so relaxing and excellent value. Lyn, our host was so warm and welcoming, with a lovely sense of humour. She made sure everyone was well looked after, nothing seemed to be too much trouble. There was a very good selection of walking books, magazines, dvd's and games. We would love it o come here again.

A fantastic find!

Sarah J,
Our stay was just brilliant from start to finish. Quietness, peaceful garden to chill out in, great breakfast that set us up for walks, excellent packed lunch, a tasty surprise each day, legendary fruit cake and sumptuous lemon drizzle. Spacious rooms, great views, bathrooms to pamper yourself in. Tastefully decorated - thank you Lyn! Comphy beds, and hospitality tray catering for all tastes, real milk daily replenished. We appreciated the guest lounge, the fridge for our convenience and it was a real treat to unwind on our last evening with our 'picnic' supper. Lyn was a mine of helpful info. re: almost everything in the area, and she soon got a measure of the activities that would suit us. The icing on the cake, the massage therapies we both thoroughly enjoyed. At the end of our stay we left feeling relaxed and stress free - we will be back!

Amazing mini honeymoon retreat

Rayrob R,
DOMAINE MALIKA hammam Wow, what can we say, perfect place, perfect host, perfect few days to re-group, relax and reflect on our wedding. If you are after peace, outstanding views (all we could see from our window was fields and horses) and a host who is kind and knows it all and looks after you 100%, it is the place to come. Lyn has thought of everything in the rooms and the guest lounge. The fresh milk was especially welcome. She even gave us a beautiful card and chocolates to celebrate our wedding- so kind. The fruit at breakfast is divine and really sets you up for the day. We ventured to Rothbury for dinner and had some decent pub fayre at the Turks Head. We were busy writing thank you cards so we didn't have time to have a walk but our fellow guests certainly did and they said it was fantastic so we definitely will next time. Lyn even left out a map and a few walk ideas for us if we fancied - she's fab. she gave us a lovely pot of tea and shortbread to enjoy in the garden in the sunshine which was a post wedding highlight. We have already booked our parents to stay, that's how good it is. We will be back and next time we'll definitely have a massage. Thanks Lyn for a great stay :) Rachel and Roberto :)
