To the rescue.

louisleeves, Greater Manchester, United Kingdom
Anne and Martin quite literally came to our rescue when we suddenly found ourselves temporally BnB-less, while traversing the Wall. Unfortunately, the BnB we had booked to stay in called us late on the Saturday evening to inform us they had overbooked...Most fortunately, we had bumped into Anne and Martin as we set off, who kindly set us on the right path towards the Roman Army Museum and even more fortunately, gave us a card, in case we were ever in the area again. Thank the Gods they had, as otherwise we would have found ourselves in quite the pickle. We were also thankful when Martin, torches in hand, came to find us, just in time before we were lost in the darkness. Lovely couple, lovely house, lovely breakfast. Thanks again, from Louis and Florence - the idiots who set off with little to no idea what we were doing.

Broomshaw Hill Farm replied: Thanks Louis. It was indeed fortunate that we bumped into you and Florence as you were setting off on your walk and that your spontaneous weekend away ended well. Your lovely comments about your stay at Broomshaw are much appreciated and we hope to see you again in the future if you do get back to explore some more of Hadrian's Wall. Best wishes, Anne and Martin

Lovely B & B in a beautiful setting,friendly hosts. Couldn't fault it

Gilly C, Melbourne, Australia
We stayed for three nights at this beautiful farm B & B, situated just outside Haltwhistle but surrounded by lovely scenery. Anne and Martin welcomed us warmly with a cup of tea and delicious shortbread and flapjacks. We had the twin bedded room, which is delightful, spacious, beautifully furnished and very comfortable. Dual aspect windows, giving views of the surrounding countryside. It was lovely to sit in the two comfortable armchairs, admiring the view, while enjoying an afternoon cup of tea and delicious home-made cakes, provided by Anne each afternoon. The breakfasts were delicious, with plenty of choice. Anne and Martin are very friendly and wonderful hosts. Nothing was too much trouble. From washing our muddy clothes for us on the day we arrived and returning them to us next morning (at no charge) to recommending places to visit and local walks. We loved the walk along the stream near the B & B. Nice little extras, like delicious home-made cakes provided every afternoon and a flask of fresh milk provided each evening. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend Broomshaw Hill Farm.

Broomshaw Hill Farm replied: Thank you Gilly for taking the time to write such a detailed, complimentary and informative review. Your comments about the comfort of your room during winter are especially reassuring and we're delighted you enjoyed the breakfasts and goodies we provide. We really enjoyed your and Paul's company and although you didn't get any snow, we were pleased you were able to enjoy the walking and scenery in February in this lovely area. We hope you both enjoyed Pickering and that the rest of your stay in London with Paul didn't pass too very quickly. Thank you again for finding us. Best wishes, Anne and Martin

Great B&B--Second visit even better than first

rockriverbob, Indiana
We've stayed here twice, once on a car trip and this time on a walk the length of the wall. Friendly, clean, comfortable, charming. Anne and Martin are wonderful hosts. We have had dinner both times and it was delicious, as was the breakfast. I enjoyed the second visit even more than the first, walking up the trail by the creek to return to the path. Great place on the Hadrian's Wall Path.

Broomshaw Hill Farm replied: It was so good to see you and Anne again Bob and to meet Jinna. We are delighted that you enjoyed the area so much, whilst based in the UK, that you returned to walk the trail Thank you for your lovely comments about our meals which we do aim to match to individual needs and tastes. We hope you will visit us again sometime. Best wishes, Anne and Martin

Great Hospitality, Lovely B&B

Daley T, Woking, United Kingdom
The setting is stunning, well worth a short trip off the beaten track to find this little gem of a B&B. Anne and Martin couldn't have been more helpful and friendly with some welcome and intelligent conversation over a cup of coffee and some shortcake after a long day of cycling solo. The room was super clean, tastefully decorated and very comfortable. The highlight was the electric blanket which soothed my aching muscles and made for a very good nights sleep. The following morning was November 9th so a historic day and I will remember hearing the news from Martin for a long time! Unfortunately, I didn't do (my Salmon Omelette) breakfast justice but it was delicious and there was a lot of choice including home made bread and, unusually but thankfully, some healthier choice. Yum. Thank you to Anne and Martin for their hospitality and a great stay.

Broomshaw Hill Farm replied: Thanks for your lovely review Dale. It was so good to meet you and provide some comfort and warmth whilst you underwent your cycling challenge. We are also delighted you enjoyed the breakfast choices and home made goodies. As it was a wintry start for you, we thought about you after you left and are glad to see you got home to Surrey safely. Bets wishes, Anne and Martin

Beautiful setting, in quite area, great hosts

miss_m_travel, winnipeg
We stayed for one night while visiting Hadrian’s Wall. Our room was very comfortable (and quite), great view, breakfast was excellent, and Anne went out of her way to help us plan our day at Hadrian’s wall and the Roman Forts. It is a great country setting and 10 min from the Vindolanda fort and one of the best view points for Hadrian’s wall. She also recommended the most exquisite English pub down the road – The Black Bull. We had a great dinner and tons of fun at this local, a true experience in itself. Don’t hesitate to book Broomshaw Hill Farm.

Broomshaw Hill Farm replied: So glad you enjoyed your stay Melissa and Ryan and that you managed to pack so much into your brief stay in this lovely area. You are right, The Black Bull is a great place to visit for a meal and good company. Good luck with the February baby and thanks again for choosing Broomshaw before your trip to Paisley and for your much appreciated recommendations. All the best, Anne and Martin
