Great B&B--Second visit even better than first

rockriverbob, Indiana
We've stayed here twice, once on a car trip and this time on a walk the length of the wall. Friendly, clean, comfortable, charming. Anne and Martin are wonderful hosts. We have had dinner both times and it was delicious, as was the breakfast. I enjoyed the second visit even more than the first, walking up the trail by the creek to return to the path. Great place on the Hadrian's Wall Path.

Great Hospitality, Lovely B&B

The setting is stunning, well worth a short trip off the beaten track to find this little gem of a B&B. Anne and Martin couldn't have been more helpful and friendly with some welcome and intelligent conversation over a cup of coffee and some shortcake after a long day of cycling solo. The room was super clean, tastefully decorated and very comfortable. The highlight was the electric blanket which soothed my aching muscles and made for a very good nights sleep. The following morning was November 9th so a historic day and I will remember hearing the news from Martin for a long time! Unfortunately, I didn't do (my Salmon Omelette) breakfast justice but it was delicious and there was a lot of choice including home made bread and, unusually but thankfully, some healthier choice. Yum. Thank you to Anne and Martin for their hospitality and a great stay.

Broomshaw Hill Farm replied: Thanks for your lovely review Dale. It was so good to meet you and provide some comfort and warmth whilst you underwent your cycling challenge. We are also delighted you enjoyed the breakfast choices and home made goodies. As it was a wintry start for you, we thought about you after you left and are glad to see you got home to Surrey safely. Bets wishes, Anne and Martin

Beautiful setting, in quite area, great hosts

We stayed for one night while visiting Hadrian’s Wall. Our room was very comfortable (and quite), great view, breakfast was excellent, and Anne went out of her way to help us plan our day at Hadrian’s wall and the Roman Forts. It is a great country setting and 10 min from the Vindolanda fort and one of the best view points for Hadrian’s wall. She also recommended the most exquisite English pub down the road – The Black Bull. We had a great dinner and tons of fun at this local, a true experience in itself. Don’t hesitate to book Broomshaw Hill Farm.

Broomshaw Hill Farm replied: So glad you enjoyed your stay Melissa and Ryan and that you managed to pack so much into your brief stay in this lovely area. You are right, The Black Bull is a great place to visit for a meal and good company. Good luck with the February baby and thanks again for choosing Broomshaw before your trip to Paisley and for your much appreciated recommendations. All the best, Anne and Martin

Post Hadrians wall stay

Andy W,
Friendly host who were there to welcome us with a pot of tea and shortcake on arrival. Lovely breakfast. Comfortable room, nice and quiet surroundings by the river. Walkable to the town centre, rail station and Black Bull pub, although we drove to the Milecastle pub at the top of the hill because we were too lazy to stomp through the dark, riverside path up the hill.

Broomshaw Hill Farm replied: Thanks Andy and Katy. We are delighted you enjoyed your short stay and that you chose Broomshaw for your quiet, relaxing mini break without the small children. We hope you had a lovely journey back to Scarborough via Teesdale and that Granny was in good spirits on your return. Good luck with the renovations back in Bath. Lovely to meet you, Anne and Martin.

Lovely overnight stay

Anne and Martin couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. I only booked our night's stay 5 days before we went, after a last minute plan to do some Hadrian's Wall walking, and had been struggling to find space in other B and B's. Anne and Martin went out of their way to accommodate us despite having another booking to work around. The home made baking with our afternoon tea was very welcome after our hike. And breakfast the next day was one of the best I've had in any hotel or B and B. Anne and Martin were full of helpful information about the local area and where to eat. The B and B is comfortable and tastefully decorated. The beds were great: I had a wonderful night's sleep, which doesn't often happen on a night away! If we go walking in the area again, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Broomshaw Hill Farm replied: Thanks Sue. We were glad to help you and Sarah out so that your plans could go ahead. It is always lovely to meet guests who are such good, long lasting friends and who really enjoy a little time together to catch up. We are also delighted you enjoyed our home cooking as well as the Broomshaw facilities and accommodation. We'd be so pleased to see you again. Best wishes, Anne and Martin
