Amazing gem of a place!

Sue S,
We stayed here for 3 nights and we're made to feel wonderfully at home by our host, Ann. There is a real family feel and its a lovely old house. Rooms are lovely and comfortable, clean and decor is in keeping with the building. The breakfast was fab and Ann is so lovely and very accommodating. I'd 100%recommend staying here. It's a 2 minutes drive from Holy Island! Perfect place to stay in my view, we loved it!

Brock Mill Farmhouse replied: Thank you for your comments. We are really pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us and our area.

Comfort with a plus

Stayed for a few nights in August 2017. Room excellent, clean and comfortable. Bathroom, great. Breakfast very good. Only one complaint--the notice that said if there evidence of dogs getting on the bed then a charge will be raised. Is that really necessary !!!!

Brock Mill Farmhouse replied: This your second report about your same stay. Perhaps we have that notice because dogs have been allowed to jump on the beds. If we remember correctly you had dogs which left paw marks !!!!!

Lovely farmhouse b and b

Lucy T, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia
We stayed at Brock Mill recently, needing a place close to the Holy Island causeway. This place is a delight. Welcomed warmly and had a very well appointed room with excellent ensuite. Everything thought of and so comfortable. Use of downstairs kitchen even offered if you don't want to go out for dinner! Breakfast delicious with lots of options fot the health conscious. Just lovely and in a very pretty setting about 2 mins drive off the main road to Holy Island. Highly recommended.

Lovely, welcoming, peaceful

We have just returned from a too- brief one night at Brickmill which was a joy! Brockmill is a farmhouse b and b set down a long lane, just off the road leading between the A1 and Holy Island. The lane was being repaired as we left but was no problem for us and was more than compensated for by the quiet location and private parking. The clue is in the name i.e a farmhouse, warm and welcoming. We also had a lovely bedroom which wasn't ensuite but had a massive, beautifully appointed private bathroom just outside our door. Everything was thought of, generous tea and coffee tray with biscuits and the use of the kitchen if needed. Restaurants are open at the Barn at Beal very close by , on the Island and at pubs nearby. We shared a beautiful breakfast with other guests which was delightful, talking and sharing knowledge of places visited. Rose prepared a lovely, generous breakfast with local ingredients, preserves and good choice. Thank you and we hope to return soon.

Brock Mill Farmhouse replied: Thank you very much for your review. We are really pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us and we would love to have you to stay with us again.

Comfortable but........llll

This is a difficult one. To begin with the property is lovely, the proprietor is kind and courteous the breakfasts are great with choices of cereal, fruit, yogurts and cooked and oh the smoked salmon is great. You don't have a private table and all guests sit around one central table in the dining room. The inside is very old farmhouse but very clean. Our room had its own spacious private bathroom which wasn't ensuite but right next door to the bedroom, however, this meant going onto the landing but only for about 6 feet or so. There is a downstairs kitchin which can be used by guests. Now the down sides which in my view over rides all other aspects. To get to this place from the road, which by the way leads directly down to Holy Island, you have to drive down a very pot holed semi made up drive of crushed stone for seven tenths of a mile (measured). This is not mentioned on the advertisement. I love my car and am glad it's comfortable otherwise it would be awful and have no idea what it would do to a car whose suspension may not be in good repair. The second point it's a long way from anywhere about 9 miles to Bamburgh castle and about the same to Berwick. There are only 2 eating places for diner in the vacinity one a family one which gets very booked up and the second a typical large roadside pub/restaurant offering typical cuisine, although not bad. Baring in mind the drive it's a fair walk to either of theses premesis thank goodness the weather was kind to us. The last point it's fairly near the main London to Edinburgh train line and if you are used to piece and quiet at night the trains can be heard in the background depending on ones sensitivity.

Brock Mill Farmhouse replied: Further to your recent review, we do apologise for the pot holes in the road. It is not just stone roads that have pot holes and we do maintain it. In periods of wet weather we are not able to do so. What we DO NOT apologise for is our situation. Most farmhouses are not adjacent to a main road !!!!. As most of our guests have said, we are ideally situated 3 miles from Holy Island and only one and a half miles from the A1. This gives guests easy access to explore our beautiful area with its' abundant attractions. We feel lucky to have 2 excellent restaurants within one and a half miles. The reason that 'The Barn at Beal' (only 300yards from our entrance) gets booked up is because it is so good.Incidentally it must have one of the 'Best Views in Britain'. We do advise guests to book both restaurants to avoid dissapointment. Probably our establishment was not to your personal taste, and it may be better to avoid rural providers.
