Overview

Black Burn Lodge is situated in beautiful elevated location overlooking the confluence of the Black Burn and Liddel Water and open countryside. Michael designed and built this spectacular modern property. Now transformed into a luxury B&B business by Jayne a former hotel manager and restaurateur. An enviable reputation has been established for customer service and high quality accommodation reflected our excellent reviews.

Black Burn Lodge is conveniently located for visiting Kielder Water and Forest Park popular with cyclists, walkers and fishermen. Equally important is Kielder dark sky status and the Observatory which attracted over 22,000 star gazers in 2016. Our guests can even enjoy our own Skywatcher telescope.

Excellent

Route66UK, UK
We only had one night here and wish we could have stayed longer. Black Burn Lodge is beautifully designed, very comfortable and immaculately clean. Jayne and Michael are great hosts and made us feel very welcome. We loved seeing the moon up close through the telescope and spending time in the pergola overlooking the river and also in the lovely guest lounge with log burner. Breakfast was outstanding!

Just the place to spend our 6 month Anniversary :-)

elf4576, Towcester, United Kingdom
Welcoming hosts, very accommodating as they lent us a USB plug because we'd both forgotten our phone chargers. Gave excellent directions to the Observatory and the local towns and places we wanted to go. The room was lovely (I wanted to steal the picture from above the bed), the shower was amazing. let us have fresh milk for tea and coffee and replenished the tea and coffee. The bed was so comfy. Unfortunately the weather wasn't good on the night we went to the observatory but Michael was more than willing to put on his coat and bring their telescope out and show us the moon - it was amazing, thank you. Breakfast - well what a choice. Fruit, yogurt, cereals to start then either cooked breakfast or smoked salmon and scrambled egg with a salsa (delicious mix of tomato onion and capers), best scrambled egg I've ever had. Haggis is part of the cooked breakfast and was great, along with all locally produced bacon and sausage. Oh and a special mention for the homemade cranberry and orange bread toasted with butter just rounded off the breakfast perfectly:-)

Perfect weekend

grace S, Burscough, United Kingdom
We were looking for a b and b near to Kielder Observatory and came across Blackburn Lodge. It was perfect, we went with our 2 daughter's for the weekend, staying one night. Jane and Michael were brilliant hosts, very friendly and welcoming. The lodge was right by the river and they had a pergola with seats, heating and blankets so we could take full advantage of the sounds and sights of the river. We stayed in the family room. It was of a high standard, clean, comfortable and quiet. Michael had a telescope that he set up so we could see the moon. I would definately recommend and it only took us 30 minutes to get to Kielder observatory.

Amazing Place and Amazing people

Cat H,
If anyone wants a lovely place to go and visit & stay with amazing views and fantastic hosts this is the place for you! The hosts themselves went out of there way to help us as our car broke down and helped us not only find resolutions and solved our problems but also gave us an absolutely brilliant first class service, genuinely just really lovely people! The place itself is situated in a beautiful town with really gorgeous views, not only that but the food was really nice. The lodge itself was kept so well everything was really brilliantly presented! All I can say its fantastic things about this B n B and would recommend it to literally anyone!

Perfect

rolandcrump, Newcastle
My fiancé and I stayed for one night on a cold, dreary Winter weekend where we enjoyed a perfect stay. Our hosts Michael and Jayne couldn't have done any more for us, from the moment we arrived to the moment we left they were happy, welcoming, generous and charming. The breakfast was divine and I was even cajoled into sampling some of the local haggis which, to my amazement, was delicious and not at all what I expected it to be like. We will definitely return here at some point in the not too distant future.
