Overview

Flying in a flex wing microlight really is an amazing experience. Totally different to any other flying you may have done. Probably as close to being a bird as you can get, the feel of flying through the air gives the flex wing flight more of a thrill and the views are outstanding with no aircraft body work getting in the way. We are incredibly fortunate to be based at Eshott where we can fly over so many fantastic scenic areas, officially designated as being of "Outstanding Natural Beauty" within a short space of time.

Things have come a long way from when some crazy guys back in the early 1970's came up with the idea of trying to power hang gliders with very basic engines. Since then technology and legislation has moved on and today's modern factory manufactured microlights powered by reliable engines, really do have an exceptionally good safety record within the aviation world. They are amazingly strong and robust, they have a greater strength to weight ratio than a Boeing 747.  Flex wing microlights have now circumnavigated the globe and flown over the highest peaks of Everest.

In the extremely unlikely event of an engine malfunction, the flex-wing will simply glide back down to earth and land safely in a field/beach/small road. Most people are able to fly. Minimum age 14. We can take people from aged 8 upwards who are not over 100kg or 16st. Disabled people are more than welcome and provided they are moderately mobile we can share the sky with you to.  The 30 minute experience (£70)Pre flight briefing;  where you decide if you want to fly the machine once we are airborne, from  the pilots seat, in the front  or purely as a passenger in the back, (dont worry, the instructor is able to control the machine from either seat). You will then taxi to take off location... full power... about 150 meters and were flying, leaping into the air for an amazing flying experience.

During your scenic tour of your choice around the surrounding area your knowledgeable instructor will enlighten you of interesting facts about buildings and towns we pass over. Our most popular 30 min flight is to go over Warkworth castle along the beach to Alnmouth  and then over Alnwick castle and Gardens prior to landing back at Eshott   The 60 minute experience (£120)

By far our most popular experience is the 60 minute flight experience.Pre flight briefing;  where you decide if you want to fly the machine once we are airborne, from  the pilots seat, in the front  or purely as a passenger in the back, (dont worry, the instructor is able to control the machine from either seat). You will then taxi to take off location... full power... about 150 meters and were flying, leaping into the air for an amazing flying experience, you'll take to the skies for a fantastic view of Northumberland. During your scenic tour of your choice around the surrounding area your knowledgeable instructor will enlighten you of interesting facts about buildings and towns we pass over. Our most popular choice for the 60 minute flight, is to fly north along the truly awe inspireing Northumbrian coastline, past Warkworth Castle, Dunstanburgh Castle, then up to Bamburgh Castle and back to Eshott via Alnwick Castle and Gardens

The Big Adventure (£ 250)If the 30 minute or 60 minute flights aren't enough for you, there is always the Big Adventure! With approximately 3 hours of flight time, you'll take off from Eshott Airfield on a cross county flight to another airfield! The possibilities for this flight are quite wide depending on prevailing conditions but rest assured this will definitely be one day to remember for the rest of your lifeYou'll have the chance to take the controls from the front if you want prior to take off, as your instructor navigates you towards your destination. Once you arrive you can have a de-brief over  tea and cakes or if we end up in a remote location we will take a small picnic.
