Fantastic day out

SnowballNewcastle, Newcastle
We booked the family day activities (daughters 10&13yrs). Zip wire, archery, king swing and buggy safari. I cannot overemphasis the quality of staff they have taking you through the activities. My 10yr old is not confident around scary things but the staff specialise in working with people to improve their confidence to do things and had her down the zip-wire to my amazement running back to have another go. Nothing is a bother with them and I cant rate them highly enough. We finished the day with the hour long buggy ride through the forest which was really fun, again the driver was a hoot and made sure we have an excellent time. First time been here but will definitely be back.

Our family day our ruined.

magill91,
Went for a morning swim with my 11 month old son and my partner. Left the swimming pool with time to get us all changed. On this occasion my son was a little upset so we sat down in the changing room for my partner to breastfeed him. With feeding and getting him changed this meant we were overdue our allocated hour by 5 minutes. On leaving the changing room we continued to the sensory room. As we unpacked and my son started to play a member of staff came into the room where he then raised his voice pointing out that "it is imperative that we leave on time and we should of left before our hour was up". The way he spoke to myself and my family was disgusting and unprofessional and we advise that more training should be given in customer service and social skills for the staff of this establishment. The male staff member humiliated ourselves infront of other customers; who were equally unimpressed with the manner of this member of staff. We were then thrown a complaint form at us as well. Sadly the staff have put us off going again. Terrible day.

Calvert Trust Kielder replied: Dear Sir, Firstly, thank you for your comments. Secondly i am shocked by what i read. I will certainly look in to this, as this is not how our staff behave. I have contacted you directly through here with my contact details and would very much appreciate it if you could take the time to reply. Kind regards, Lynsey Bell, Head of Guest Services

Brilliant well equipped lodge

apkirkbride1991,
We have just got back from a wonderful weekend stay in the McArdle lodge at Calvert Trust Kielder. Wow what an amazing stay, in a brilliant well equipped lodge. The lodge had everything and the hot tub was an absolute bonus! This is our first weekend away where we have taken the dog and we loved it and would be keen to go back. The accommodation is very modern and stylish and offers everything you would expect and more from a self catering break. Whilst the weather wasn't brilliant during our stay there were plenty of great walks from the site. Would recommend to anyone looking for a luxury self catering lodge around Kielder!

Brilliant!

Mrsdob, Hebburn, United Kingdom
We've just had the best 4 days away! Calvert trust have the best staff and facilities for disabled people and their families. We stayed in a chalet and cannot fault it. We tried nearly every activity and the staff were amazing, friendly and very hands on. Lots of people there for respite, holidays etc and I watched how amazing the staff are with every single one of them. In my own family we have an autistic teenager and a dyspraxic 9yr old and they felt right at home. We will definitely be returning. Big shout out to Lucy who was with us on most of our activities and was just brilliant. And also Natalie for the best family zip wire session.

60th Birthday Celebration

Susan D,
A great place to gather for a large family. 20 Adults, 4 children and 4 dogs. The dog friendly cabins were brilliant and we could not have gathered without them. The staff at the centre were brilliant and caring. Any age, anybody! We were all able bodied but we just knew these people cared! A great place, close to Leaplish just up the road, 5 minutes by car 40 on foot through wonderful scenery. The pub at Leaplish became home, overlooking the lake and with free wifi and a telephone signal. Meant we were able to FaceTime our son in Seville, Spain who because of work commitments could not join us in person - technology is marvellous! The Observatory is another must! Totally mind blowing!!! Who knew just how insignificant we are? Must, must see venue.
